Adding a raingauge

In addition to data soured from the Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) via the Queensland Government’s Silo site (https://www.longpaddock.qld.gov.au/silo/), SWApp can access rainfall data from a number of sources:

  • from manual records
  • Network gauges based on proximity to site
  • link to Netatmo © weather station,
  • BlueTooth raingauge (USQ experimental – limited availability)

Note that Netatmo and BlueTooth devices need to be enabled from the sidebar menu.

When an additional raingauge is connected to a site, the BoM data AND the additional gauge’s data are displayed but the additional gauges data is used by SWApp (from first record to last record). If additional data is not available, SWApp reverts back to the BoM data.

You can add a new raingauge to your project by clicking the "Add Raingauge" button on the raingauge home screen. Note that you can also do this when setting up a site (there is a step in the setup to add a raingauge).

There are at least 4 steps involved in setting up a new raingauges.
